Variability and trend of sea level in southern waters of Java, Indonesia

The coastal area of Java has become a centre new economic growth. southern coast Java, which is directly adjacent to the tropical Indian Ocean, very vulnerable sea level rise caused by climate change. Information on variability and trends in are therefore important for adaptation disaster mitigation efforts. This research was conducted determine trend Java. Data used were from satellite altimeter 1993 2018 tide gauges 2007 2015. rate analysed using linear regression. results showed that waters influenced Asian–Australian monsoon, eddy currents Ocean Dipole (IOD). During June–November, there significant decrease level, especially south East Central upwelling currents. When positive phase IOD an El Niño event, decreased; conversely, when negative phase, increased. For period 1993–2018, increased about 4.7 mm/year.
